HISTORY OF COAL SACK

1987
December
Hisao Suzuki wanted to publish a magazine filled with poems by outstanding poets such as “Kenji Miyazawa” who conveyed the world’s agonies and wrote poems that reflects the self which lead him to publish his individual poetry magazine called “Coal Sacks” (a bag of coals).
2005
December
We started publication activity and published a collection of poetics, “Where poems fall - The power of poetic iteration III”.7 of the collections of poetics, “Coal Sack New Books” have been published so far.
2006
August
An individual poetry magazine, “Coal Sack” turned into a company specializing in poetry, and began to publish a collection of poems and poetics. We published “Ko Hyonyoru: Long verse - Little boy” which had been serialized for 7 years on the poetry magazine, “Coal Sack” on August 6th. We invited Mr. Hyonyoru Ko to Hiroshima and held the publication party there on August 5th. Many Japanese poets gathered and celebrated the great achievements.
“Ko Hyonyoru: Long verse - Little boy” was introduced on the editorial of “Nishinippon Shimbun” on August 6th.
2007
August
We published “Against nuclear Weapons: A Collection of Poems by 181 poets” in the middle of July and began to sell it from the 6th of August.
The poems were introduced on more than 60 newspapers such as “Tenseijingo” from Asahi newspaper, radio and TV.
2007
November
A publication party of “Against nuclear Weapons: A Collection of Poems by 181 poets” was held at Toyo University on Hakusan campus. We reprinted the 5 hours of the publication party on “Coal Sack volume 59”.

December
Also, we published the English version of “Against nuclear Weapons: A Collection of Poems by 181 poets”.
2008
April
Hisao Suzuki and Kozaburo Nagatsu met Steven Leeper from Hiroshima Peace Cultural Foundation and requested him that he read out “Against nuclear Weapons: A Collection of Poems by 181 poets” when he gives a speech at the nuclear bomb exhibitions which was held in 101 cities in the U.S.. He accepted the request and he read out the poem at the exhibitions.
2008
August
We published “The daily life words: A Collection of Poems by 277 poets” which is written in the daily life words of the area such as in the dialects and the local place names, which is written regarding the global warming and ecology.
2008
September
Hideo Suzuki has received “The 18th Iihatobu encouraging prize” from The Miyazawa Kenji Association Iihatobu Center as an editor for “Against nuclear Weapons: A Collection of Poems by 181 poets” (Japanese and English).
2009
March
We have published “The Great Air Attacks: A Collection of Poems by 310 poets” on March 10th.
On the same day, the poems were introduced in “Tenseijingo” on the Asahi newspaper.
Hisao Suzuki and Ayumu Akutsu appeared on NHK TV with a four and half minutes from 7:50 am introduction video.
2009
July
We began to publish “Essays of poets” and have published 5 books so far.
2009
October
We began Coal Sack poem paperback series and have published 6 books so far.
2010
August
We published “Tears of God - Beyond the atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki” (Japanese and English) written by David Krieger on August 6th.
“Requiem: A Collection of Poems by 404 poets” was published on August 15th. Reviews of the book were featured on many newspapers such as Nishinippon Shimbun.
2010
September
“Asia line - At Vladivostok this morning” which had been serialized for 4 years on the poetry magazine, “Coal Sack” was issued.
We began series of “Shinei kokoro” and have published 6 books so far.
2010
October
A joint publication party of “Requiem: A Collection of Poems by 404 poets” and “Asia line” written by Mr.
Hyonyoru Ko was held at Toyo University.
2011
January
A publication party for “Walking tour with Adolf Dietrich” written by Beato Burehibyuru and translated by Shun Suzuki was held by Swiss Embassy.
2011
July
“Lives in Danger: A Collection of Poem by 311 poets” is planned to be published.
